The fifth congress of the Mouvement Étudiant Révolutionnaire – Revolutionary Student Movement (MER-RSM) was a huge success. This was the first congress in which we had consolidated sections across the country (rather than just contacts or activity in several regions); we were joined by delegates from Vancouver, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, all over Ontario and Québec, and PEI (in total 16 sections sent delegates). The breadth of experience represented by the delegates was exciting and will hopefully breathe new life into our work in the coming year. We had comrades who had been involved in and/or played leading roles in the ‪#‎Iamastudent‬

The People’s Dinner: Anti-Capitalist Community Meal

WHEN: Thursday, Dec 17, 5:30-8pm
WHERE: Meeting Room 1 (downstairs), MacKenzie Public Library, 74 MacKenzie St., Sudbury

RSM-Sudbury and RCP(OC)-Sudbury are teaming up with other members of the community to put on an end-of-the-year social event with an anti-capitalist theme. We’re hosting a free community meal and it is open to everyone!

Capitalism is a system where decisions are made based on what makes the most money, and not what best meets the majority of people’s needs. The result is that the real material needs of the people are ignored and unmet. Even in Canada, capitalism

Statement of RSM-Sudbury on the Transgender Day of Remembrance

No Revolution without Trans Liberation

From the Revolutionary Student Movement website:

Below is a statement of solidarity with trans people and the trans liberation struggle, distributed by RSM-Sudbury on the Transgender Day of Remembrance, Nov 20, at a vigil held at Tom Davies Square. The Transgender Day of Remembrance was started by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. The vigil commemorated all the transgender people lost to violence that year and has become an annual event marked around the world.

On Sunday, December 13, 2015 the militant, zionist Jewish Defense League (JDL) will be hosting author and anti-Muslim activist Robert Spencer at the Toronto Zionist Centre (788 Marlee Avenue). The event is billed as “Chanukah with David Spencer: The Threat of the Syrian ‘Refugees’ Trojan Horse” with an event poster which promotes a spurious link between Syrian refugees fleeing imperialist violence in their homelands, the fascist Islamic State in Syria (ISIS), and the recent violence in Paris, France.

Spencer is the director of (funded by the David Horowitz Freedom Center) as well as the co-founder of various organizations American

This past Saturday night Masjid Al-Salaam (the sole Mosque in Peterborough and religious and cultural home to the Kawartha Muslim Religious Association) was the location of an arson attack. The community reached out in efforts to raise funds to fix the Mosque. However recent actions have shown that Racists, Fascists and Islamophobes are undeterred. In light of the continued reactionary behavior on the part of white supremacist scum, the Revolutionary Student Movement-Peterborough and the Revolutionary Communist Party (Organizing Committee)-Peterborough call on all anti-racists and anti-fascists to join us on the streets and show a united front in solidarity with all

RSM Peterborough stands in solidarity with the members of Masjid Al-Salaam, Muslims and people of colour throughout Peterborough and the Kawarthas in the face of an attack on the community’s Mosque this past Saturday Night. An arson attack just hours after the community was celebrating in the space is a clear message of racism and islamophobia. Such attacks by reactionary elements in our community cannot be tolerated. Just as RSM and PRAC Comrades have taken an active role in confronting the PEGIDA fascists in Montreal and Toronto, the RSM calls on all revolutionary and progressive forces in Peterborough to condemn

Statement from the Marxist-Leninist Communist Organization “Voie Prolétarienne”

Their war, our dead here as elsewhere! Their National unity, our popular unity!

After the attacks in Beirut and against the Kurds in Turkey, now over 100 dead in Paris in the worst death toll in the capital since the 17 October 1961 when the French police massacred Algerians during a demonstration for independence. The ISIL terrorists struck out at random at a football match, on café terraces, during a concert, etc. These appalling crimes breed alarm, fear and panic. We are in a state of shock as some of us mourn colleagues and friends, wounded or dead. The whole population of Paris and its surrounding area were the target. These were Fascist

Imperialism, and France with a role in the front row, has sown the wind in the world and now reaps the whirlwind, and the war that has sown terror and now the war comes back home.

The imperialists have created and supported the ISIS against the people and against those who interposed an obstacle to their interests, profits, oil, geopolitical control of strategic areas of the world and now the ISIS created barbarians create suicide bombings in Paris.

Imperialism and now the French answer to the terrorist attacks in the worst possible way, with a state of emergency, the political-military-police

Here is the schedule of the various events that are planned for the National Day of Action called by the PCR-RCP at the eve of the federal election. As the bourgeois parties will desperately try to convince the most to take part in their circus, we will instead affirm our commitment—which is totally different from an election promise!—for the next four years: waging class struggle against the capitalists and their state!
